A councillor in the rural municipality of Browning says a fellow councillor who posted an online comment about the shooting death of an Aboriginal man has offered his resignation.

A screen-grab of the post, from a user named Ben Kautz, waswidely circulated after the death of Colten Boushie earlier thismonth.

Boushie, 22, of the Red Pheasant First Nation was killed afterthe vehicle he was in drove onto a farm in the rural municipality ofGlenside, west of Saskatoon.

A man associated with the property, 54-year-old Gerald Stanley, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of second-degree murder in the case.

"His only mistake was leaving three witnesses," read the poston a Saskatchewan farmers group Facebook page. The group has sincebeen closed.

Kautz, a farmer near the small town of Lampman, southeast ofRegina, was also a councillor with the RM.

Brian Fornwald, another councillor in Browning, heard that Kautz offered his resignation Monday.

The reeve of the RM had previously told CBC that Kautz's comment would be discussed at an upcoming meeting.

Kautz's wife, Dawn, told The Canadian Press, that he regrets the post and had offered to step down as councillor.

The reeve of the RM refused to confirm whether or not he had received Kautz's resignation.
