McIntosh nets 2 for Saskatchewan Rush to hold lead over Rochester

A flurry of seven goals in the first quarter was enough to seal the win for the Saskatchewan Rush as they took on the visiting Rochester Knighthawks.

Rush now sit in second place, with 4-2 record in West Division

A flurry of seven goals in the first quarter was enough to seal the win for the Saskatchewan Rush as they took on the visiting Rochester KnighthawksFriday night at the SaskTel Centre in front of more than 11,000 fans.

ForwardBen McIntosh'stwo goals in the first frame helped the Rush jump ahead of the Kinghthawks7-1 bythe end of the first quarter. That early lead was all the Rush needed asthey kept it throughout the game, finishing with an 11-8 final score.

Zack Greer and Mark Matthews also had a pair of goals apiece forthe Rush, who now have a4-2 record and sit in second place the National Lacrosse League's West Division. Kyle Rubisch, Curtis Knight, Jeff Cornwall, ChrisCorbeil and Robert Church rounded out the attack.

Dan Dawson scored four times for Rochester (3-3), which also gotgoals from Cody Jamieson, Sid Smith, Joe Resetarits and Joe Walters. The team now sits in third place in the league's East Division.

Saskatchewan'sAaron Bold made 29 saves for the win. Matt Vinc turned away 47shots in defeat.

Saskatchewan was threefor eighton the power play while the Knighthawksscored three times on four attempts.

The Rush will remainat home for their next game when theyhostBuffaloon Friday, Feb. 26.
