Crown stays one of two sexual assault charges against Pink Lounge owner Skipp Anderson

The Crown has stayed one of two sexual assault charges against Pink Lounge and Nightclub owner Skipp Anderson.

"It did not meet the Crown's standard to proceed for prosecution," said prosecutor Dorinda Stahl.

"There was no reasonable likelihood of conviction."

Skipp Edward Anderson was to have stood trial Monday morning at Court of Queen's Bench in Saskatoon. The allegation dated back to May 11, 2014.

A second, separate charge is expected to go to trial. No date has yet been set.

Anderson's lawyer, Brad Mitchell, provided CBC with a statement when the charges became public.

"Mr. Anderson vehemently denies these allegations and maintains his innocence. He looks forward to his day in court and is confident that the truth will ultimately prevail," the statement said.
