Saskatoon Blades raise $18K for Food Bank on Star Wars night

The Saskatoon Blades and PotashCorp combined to raise $36,000 for the Saskatoon Food Bank.

The Force was strong that night.

The Saskatoon Blades raised $18,128 for the Saskatoon Food Bank at its Star Wars-themedevening on Saturday. It partnered with PotashCorp for the event, with the company matching the public donations.

By evening's end, the Food Bank had netted more than $36,000.

Fans donated more than 400 kilograms of food. (CBC)
Blades fans also contributed more than 400 kilogramsof food.

Blades' president Steve Hogle presented the food, and the cheque, at the Food Bank this morning.

The money came from a 50/50 draw, and from sales of specialty Star Wars-themed Blades jerseys.
