Awesome or awful? Saskatoon Blades unveil Star Wars jerseys

Just like millions of sci-fi fans aroundthe world, the Saskatoon Blades are wearing their love for Star Wars on their sleeves.

On Nov. 28, the Blades will literally be wearing scenes from the movie.

On Monday night, the team tweeted photos of their special Star Wars-themed jerseys.

The Blades will wear the jerseyson Nov. 28 game against the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Maclean Nelson, the Blades manager of communications and community relations, said the team couldn't resist this opportunity.

"We figured with the release of the new Star Wars movie that this would just be a no-brainer for us to really kind of reach out to a different crowd that may not get to experience hockey before," Nelson said.

"With all the hype around this movie that putting out a jersey like this would just generate so much buzz."

Nelson said after the team released the design, within an hour "it's gotten a ton of notoriety and a lot of media attention."

The jerseys will be auctioned off during the game to raise money for the Saskatoon Food Bank and Food Banks of Saskatchewan. Cash donations and non-perishable food items will also be collected.

The team is expected to announce more details about the jerseys and their special "Star WarsNight"on Tuesday.

Star Wars: The Force Awakenswill be released on Dec. 18.
