Saskatoon north commuter bridge and freeway up for public discussion

The future of Saskatoon's roads and how they could impactthe city's commuters and residents will be up for debate tonight. There are two separate meetings open to the public.

North Commuter Parkway

Starting at 6 p.m. CST at the Victoria School's libraryon Broadway Avenue, there'll be an open house for the traffic bridge and north commuter parkway project.

It's expected attendees will hear about construction timelines and the expected effects of the constructionof the bridge and the commuter parkway.

According to an update on the City of Saskatoon's website,Graham Commuter Partners is in the middle ofsubmitting regulatory permits needed to begin construction on the bridge.

The group expects to receive the permits in the next few weeks, and begin construction after receiving them.

West Connector Route

This meeting deals with future plans to build a freeway around the city, in particular, plans to connect Highway 7, on the city's southwest side, with the Circle Drive S. network and the south bridge.

The meeting gets underway at 6 p.m. in the common area of Bethlehem Collegiate on Bowlt Crescent.

The Montgomery Place Community Association, which lives near where the potential route could go, has expressed its opposition to one such option that it says would connect Circle Drive South with Highway 7 using 11th Street W.

11thStreet W. borders the north side of Montgomery Place.

The public meeting will be attended by representatives form the province's highway ministry, the City of Saskatoon, the RM of Corman Park and the project's consultant from Stantec Engineering.
