Six fire trucks were brought out to fight a stubborn grass fire located south of the city Tuesday afternoon.

Fire crews were called out to a grass fire near Merrill School Road and Car Mart Road just before 3 p.m. CST. The fire had started in a car, and had spread to nearby vegetation.

However, by the time firefighters arrived, the fire had quickly spread. Eventually, six fire trucks were called out to help.

Firefighters said muddy terrain combined with inaccessible areas and trying conditions made fighting the fire difficult. Crews wrapped up their operations at 10:30 p.m.

No buildings were damaged and no one was hurt.

It's still not clear how the vehicle fire started or the cost of the damage.
