The deadline is drawing close for citizens of Saskatoon to forward their ideas to name the new North Commuter Parkway.

Name suggestions for the new bridge in the city's north end must follow the spirit of reconciliation. In 2016,Saskatoon city council voted to use the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's calls to action when naming the new bridge.

Submissions must acknowledge an Aboriginal historical event or person that represents the spirit of the community, coming togetheror connection, according to the city.

A series of public information sessions are now planned for next month, including some targeted meetings with youth, seniors, and people with disabilities.

The city of Saskatoon began collecting name ideas in July andreminded people Wednesday that they will have to make their submissions by the end of October. Those submissions can be made on the city's website.

The North Commuter Parkwayis expected to open in October 2018.
