Police in Saskatoon are now calling the death of a 25-year-old man a homicide.

On Sunday morning around 10 a.m. CST, police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound on the 1800 block of 20th Street W.

The man died in hospital. His identity is not being released, at the request of the family, police said.

This is the city's 10th homicide of the year and the sixth in the Pleasant Hill neighbourhood.

Last month, people living in Pleasant Hill wrote a letter to Mayor Charlie Clarkclaiming the city has failed to act on serious social challenges in the community.

Both Clark and Ward 2 councillor Hilary Gough responded to the letterand said issues of poverty reduction, gang violence and drugs need a collaborative approach.

The letter will be discussed at Saskatoon's Board of Police Commissioners meeting on Thursday.
