Saskatoon police cruiser rammed with stolen car

A man from Yorkton has been charged with ramming a Saskatoon police cruiser.

Suspect who fled despite being shocked with a Taser faces numerous charges

A man driving a stolen car has been charged with ramming a police vehicle, Saskatoon police say.

At about 5:20 p.m. CST Wednesday, police saw a stolen car being driven down 3rd Avenue near Queen Street. Police said the same auto had been involved earlierin a gas-and-dash.

The driver refused to stop for police and slammed into the police car, police said.

When he got out of the vehicle he was shocked with a Taser but managed to briefly escape. He was caught several blocks away.

The officer driving the patrol car wasn't injured in the collision. The suspect was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Charges against the suspect, 43,include evading police, assaulting police officer with a weapon, theft under $5,000 and possession of a stolen vehicle. He also hasoutstanding warrants for failing to report an accident to police and driving while disqualified.
