Saskatoon police warn that fake OxyContin pills now in many colours

Police say a drug bust in Saskatoon this week revealed a troubling development in the illicit synthetic drug trade.

Trouble, it seems, now comes in many colours.

This is the warning today from Saskatoon police drug investigators.

Officerscharged four men with a variety of drug offenses after a traffic stop and raid earlier this week. Police seized liquid cocaine, morphine, powder cocaine, cash and hashish.

What troubles police is that they also recovered 152 fentanyl pills, which is the deadly ingredient in fake OxyContin.

"In the past, the pills have been green in colour," said Cst. Bill Bergeron in a news release.

"However, they may now come in any colour tablet."

Police believe that least two deaths last year may have been linked to accidental overdoses.
