2 accused released after white powder scare

Two women and a man are facing charges of public mischief and uttering threats after suspicious packages were sent to five businesses on Tuesday.

Two of the three people arrested after a number of suspicious packages were sent to Saskatoon businesses have been released.

Originally, two women and a man faced numerous charges afterfive suspicious packages were sent to downtown and north end businesses on Tuesday.

The packages contained a mysterious white powder and put parts of the city inlock downas emergency responders prepared for the worst.

Five suspicious packages were sent to downtown and north end businesses on Tuesday.

However, police have now determined a man and woman involved in delivering the packages didn't know the contents of the envelopes.

Police have charged a woman namedAlexaAmanda Emerson(also knownasAmanda MayTotchek), with Public Mischief, Mischief and Utter Threats to Cause Bodily Harm. Emerson is well known to police and the incident may be linked to an ongoing criminal harassment case.

On Tuesday, crews were sent to three businesses downtown and another two by the airport.

In the end, the powder proved to be talcum powder and baking soda.
