School boards say the cancellation is because of the snow creating potentially unsafe driving conditions.

Cancellation is due to snow creating potentially unsafe driving conditions, say school boards

School busand taxi servicesforSaskatoon Public Schools and Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schoolsare cancelled for Thursday.

Both school boards say classes are on as usual at elementary schools and high schools. However the buses are not running becausethe challenging winter driving conditions on residential streets could put students in an unsafe situation.

The boards are asking students who rely on buses and taxis to find alternative ways to and from school, or to contact their school to let them know they won't be able to attend.

Saskatoon Transit high school special buses are expected to run, Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools said, though students should check the transit website or app for alerts.

City bus service has resumed on many routes but Saskatoon Transit said routes have been modified.

The Catholic board said the bus from Warman, Sask., tocole Holy Mary Catholic School inMartensvilleis also cancelled. Other bus services for Martensville, Warman, Humboldt and Biggar are scheduled to run as usual.
