Saskatoon woman faces multiple charges related to alleged sexual abuse of children

A Saskatoon woman appeared in provincial court Tuesdaycharged with nine counts ofsexual abuse against two children.

The allegations include making child pornographyand bestiality. She cannot be named because it would identify the children.

"She appeared from Saskatoon Police Service cells. So this morning I suspect she'll be transported to Pine Grove Institution, but I don't have confirmation of that from the institution," said defence lawyer Lisa Watson after the court appearance.

"She has been charged and we have adjourned her matter to Friday, Feb. 12. The Crown has indicated that they are opposed to her release, which means we now look at preparing and scheduling a bail hearing."

Local police said they received a report on Jan. 11 thata child was being sexually assaulted and images of the child were being shared over social media.

The incidents of abuse are alleged to have been taking place since December2019 and involvetwo female victims, agedfour and two.

The Saskatoon Police Child Abuse Unit, with assistance from the Integrated Child Exploitation Unit, investigated and laid numerouscharges against the 25-year-old woman.

The woman is charged with sexual assault, sexual Interference, two counts of invitation to sexual touching, distributingchild pornography, making child pornography, committing a sexual offence against a child, attempt to commit a sexual offence against a childand bestiality.
