Saskatchewan's Ministry of Corrections and Policing said Friday that a sixth staff member at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre tested positive for COVID-19.

Spokesperson Noel Busse said atan afternoon news conference thatthe ministry does not believe the virus is being spread within the facility and that no inmates have contracted COVID-19.

The staff member is isolating at home.

Busse declined to comment on how the ministry believed the staff members contracted the virus, citing privacy concerns.

"We're being very cautious about the personal health aspect of this and I can't really get into more detail than that," Busse said.

Busse said the ministry is working with public health officials to go through the proper contact tracing and what measures need to be put in place as a result of the staff members' positive tests.
