Saskatoon roads, services still being affected by Sunday's snow storm

Saskatoon city crews continues to open up more roads that were impassable after Sunday's massive snow storm.

Priority 1 roads in Saskatoon are all open and city crews should have all priority 2 roads open to traffic by noon, says a city news release.

But the city is still recommending to only travel if necessary, and in a large vehicle with four-wheel drive because of the snow and icy conditions.

Thecity does not typically grade snow from residential streets, but says this storm was a special situation.

"We recognize that this is an unusually large amount of snowfall, all at once, for our city," saidTerry Schmidt, general manager of transportation andconstruction, in a statement.

"For this reason, we've decided to proceed with a plan to restore mobility on all roads,including residential streets."

Crews will work through residential streets, beginning with the most impacted.

The city says that if Saskatoon experiences more snowfallcrews will need to prioritize higher traffic streets as per usual.

Civic facilities and services are still affected as follows:

City Hall

Residents are encouraged to avoid travelling to City Hall and instead use online services at saskatoon.ca or contact us through e-mail at revenue@saskatoon.ca or phone at 306-975-2400.

Saskatoon Transit

Transit service has resumed on 22nd Street, Eighth Street, Idylwyld and Attridge drives.

Fixed route service will be expanded today as streets continue to be cleared. Check the real-time app, transit or Google Maps Transit on desktop or SaskatoonTransit.ca for service alerts.

Access Transit will resume today.

Garbage and recycling

Garbage (Black Cart) and Recycling (Blue Cart):

• Monday, Nov. 9 collections rescheduled to Saturday, Nov. 14

• Tuesday, Nov. 10 collections rescheduled to Sunday, Nov. 15

Leisure Services

Leisure centres will remain closed today.

City indoor arenas will remain closed this morning.
