The Saskatoon Soapsis celebrating three decades of fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants theatre.

The troupe specializes in improvised skits and off-the-cuff routines.

One way to understand the magic of improv is to play a simple game: CBC's Britainy Robinson took a lesson recently and the video shows how that went.

New season opens

Their 2013-14 season of mad-cap sketchesopens Friday night with a 30th Anniversary showat the Broadway Theatre in Saskatoon.

Performer Rob Van Meenen grew up watching the Soaps.He joined the company 15 years ago.

"We've had this great through-line of talent coming in and out, and in and out and back again," Van Meenen said Thursday. "Some people have gone on to much bigger things and they're always invited back. Whenever someone is in town they'realways invited back on the stage."
