Alzahran family from Syria settles into new home in Capreol

Capreol has a new family of nine settling into a new life. The sponsored Syrian family members says they are very happy with their new home.

The Alzahran family is settling into their new home in the Capreol area of Greater Sudbury. The CBC's Markus Schwabe went to visit the Alzahran family, and with the help of translator, Jana Abou-Ziki, had a chat with the father, Abdul-Hakim Alzahran.

Capreol has a new family of nine settling into a new life.The sponsored Syrian family members say they are very happy with their new home.

The Alzahrans arrived at the beginning of January.Six of their children are already going to school nearby.

Abdul-Hakim and his wife Khitam are anxious to start English lessons as soon as possible. They say those helping them have been very kind and they're keeping themselves busy, despite the cold weather.

"Although it is snowing and it is so cold, they like it, and they believe it reflects the white hearts of the people here," they said to CBC News, with the help of a translator.

The say Sudbury residents have "showed them a high level of love and tenderness and they believe they are No. 1 in the world from that point of view."

The Alzahrans are one of several families that Sudburians are sponsoring over the next several months.
