A 35-year-old woman has been charged with distributing intimate images without consent by Greater Sudbury Police after pictures of Pioneer Manor residents were shared across Snapchat.

In June, the city fired five Pioneer Manor staff from the long-term care facility for allegedly sharing images of vulnerable residents.

Catherine Matheson, general manager of community development for the city, said a complaint from a Pioneer Manor staff member prompted the investigation.

Kaitlynn Dunnof the Greater Sudbury Policesaidtheinvestigation revealed that the four other employees shared images of residents, however the content of the images did not cross the threshold into "intimate."

Intimate images, Dunn said, would be considered any kind of explicit nudity without the person's consent or knowledge.

They do not, however, have to be of a sexual nature, she said.

The accused will appear in court August 16.
