Chase Read, 30, hit and killed by transport truck in Wahnapitae

Ontario Provincial Police say a 30-year-old man is dead after being hit by a transport truck on Highway 17 in Wahnapitae Monday night.

Police say officers were sent to the scene at about 9:20 p.m.

OPP saidinvestigators concluded that"the pedestrian stepped into the driving lane of an eastbound transport truck and was struck by the truck's right front corner."

Police have identified the victim as Chase Read, 30, of Wahnapitae.He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The highway has been completely re-opened to traffic.
