Manitoulin business owner Chris Blodgett, 41, facing drug trafficking charge

A well-known businessman on Manitoulin Island is slated to appear in court in Gore Bay today for a bail hearing after being charged with drug trafficking this week.

A well-known businessman on Manitoulin Island was released on bail this weekafter being charged withdrug trafficking.

Chris Blodgett, 41, was taken into police custody after a reportedbust one involving the OPP'sOrganized Crime Enforcement Bureau andEmergency Response Team in Little Current on Tuesday.

Police saidcannabis, morphine,oxycodoneand cash were seized.

Blodgett is charged withPossession for the Purpose of Trafficking andPossession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000.

He owns the North Channel Cruise Line and runs Discovery Yacht Charters based in Little Current.

The well-known companies offer both scheduled and private charter boat tours to places including Killarney and the Benjamin Islands.

Blodgett is slated to appear before the court again in Gore Bay on Jan. 25.
