Elliot Lake woman dead after Highway 17 collision Thursday

Ontario Provincial Police say an 81 year-old woman is dead after a collision on Thursday along Highway 17 west of Sudbury, Ont.

Hyi-Ja Lee, 81, was taken to hospital where she died, a passenger had non-life threatening injuries

Ontario Provincial Police say an 81 year-old woman is dead after a collision on Thursday along Highway 17 west of Sudbury, Ont.

According to astatement issued by police, firefighters, police officers and paramedics were called around 11:40 a.m to Nairn Centre where preliminary investigation found that the eastbound vehicle lost control, left the roadway and hit a rock face.

The driver, identified as Hyi-Ja Lee, 81, from Elliot Lake was taken to hospital where she died, police said.

A male passenger in the vehicle was also taken to hospital with what police described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Police saidthey continue to investigate.
