The Crops

Fall strawberries also known as"day neutrals" were developeda number of years ago to extend the berry season in climates like that of northeastern Ontario. Deschatelets said the berries are generally as sweet, red and juicy as their early-season cousins, andcan typicallybe harvested until about first frost.

Corn a summer BBQ staple is really hitting its stride right now, according to Deschatelets. He said his variety this year is very sweet, and he recommendstaking a bite out of a raw cob to test thesweetnessand freshness before buying.
