The dust has been blown off a collection of nearly 150 works by the late and celebrated MChigeeng artist Carl Beam.

It was commissioned in the late 1990s for the Cambrian Foundation in Sudbury, but it was never shown.

However, tonight, about 45 of those works will be on display at a Cambrian-operated gallery in downtown Sudbury.

The co-ordinator of the Art and Design Fundamentals program at Cambrian college said both the college and the Cambrian Foundation administrators are now taking a closer look at the art in their collection.

You know, in the 15 years or so since the donation, theres obviously been changes throughout the college, Richard Neufeld said.

So now, the newer, if you will, administrators in the foundation and so forth are going to pick things up and start to look at what they want to do.

Beams work is showcased in several galleries around the world, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario as well as many private collections.

The show in Sudbury, titled Assist: Works By Carl Beam will be featured at Open Studio on Cedar Street. It runs until December 1.
