Marianne Matichuk hires her photographer to run mayor's office

Chuck Swinden has volunteered as the mayor's personal photographer for the last four years and was recently hired as her new operations manager.

The mayor of GreaterSudbury has hired her personal photographer to help run her office.

Chuck Swinden is the new operations manager for Marianne Matichuk.

He is afamiliar face for Sudburians who have been at public events with the mayor.

He's volunteeered as her personal photographer for the past four years and is working on a book about Matichuk's time in office.

Swindenhada few paid jobs for the mayor's office, including shooting pictures at her annualstate of the city address.

He will remain in the job until December, whenMatichuk'sterm ends with the swearing in of a new mayor and city council.

Swinden's hiring is meant to help fill the void left by Christine Hogarth, when she quit as Matichuk's chief of staff earlier this spring.

The mayor's office reports Swinden will be doing some of the same work as Hogarthand taking up some but not all of her $107,000salary.

A copy of Swinden's resume shows he runs his own photography company, as well as teaching photography. In the past he has worked as a sales manager.

CBC News requested to speak with Swinden about his new job, but was told that, since he is not a spokesperson for the mayor's office, he won't be doing any interviews.
