Motorcycle driver hit by rock thrown by teens and seriously injured in Sudbury, say police

A motorcycle driver was seriously injured after being hit by a rock thrown by teens on a Sudbury, Ont., road, said police.

A motorcycle driver wasseriously injured after being hit by a rock thrown by teens on a Sudbury, Ont., road, said police.

Sudbury police said in a news release they received a call Wednesday afternoon that teens were reportedly throwing rocks on Maley Drive.

While complaints were coming in from members of the public, a motorcycle driver lost control and crashed into the ditch. Police said witnesses believe "the operator of the motorcycle was in fact struck with a rock causing the collision."

Paramedics brought the motorcycle driver to the Health Sciences North hospital, where they are being treated for "significant injuries."

Police saidthey have not yet identified the teens responsible for throwing the rocks.

Witnesses described them as two males:

  • One had shoulder-length red hair, freckles and was wearing a black hoodie and black jogging pants.
  • The other teen was wearing a white or grey hoodie at the time of the incident.

Police saidthe investigation is ongoing.
