61-year-old pilot found dead after Sudbury float plane crash

Greater Sudbury Police confirm the body of a missing pilot has been recovered outside the fuselage of a submerged float plane in Fairbank Lake after it crashed on Sept. 21 in Sudbury, Ont.

Deceased is identified as Brian Hickey, 61, of southern Ontario

Greater Sudbury Police confirm the body of a missing pilot has been recovered outside the fuselage of a submerged float plane in Fairbank Lake after it crashed on Sept. 21 in Sudbury, Ont.

The deceased has been identified as 61-year-old Brian Hickey from southern Ontario.

A 32-year-old man, who was a passenger on the plane, was rescued the evening when the plane went down and treated in hospital with minor injuries.

Police are asking anyone to contact them if they find any debris related to the incident on the lake.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
