No injuries reported after plane carrying pilot and dog crashes in Greater Sudbury

A pilot and his dog survived a plane crash in Greater Sudbury, Ont., on Sunday evening, according to Greater Sudbury Police.

A pilot and his dog surviveda plane crash in Greater Sudbury, Ont., on Sunday evening, according to Greater Sudbury Police.

The single engine aircraft was located upside down in a swamp in between Whitson and Garson Lakes.

The pilot was travelling from Sault Ste. Marie to Timmins. He triedto stop in Sudbury because he was experiencing navigational issues, according to the Transportation Safety Board.

His plane had an engine failure just before 5 p.m. approximatelynine kilometres west of the Sudbury airport.

The pilot was found with his dogin good health, according to police, and no injuries have been reported.He hasbeen sent to hospital as a precautionary measure.

The Transportation Safety Board will not be investigating further, but Transport Canada has been notified about the crash.

Search and rescue technicians and search and rescue aircraft from Canadian Forces Base Trenton worked with policeand Sudbury Fire Services in thematter.
