Plane crash occupants swim to safety

Investigators at Transport Canada are checking a float plane that crashed into Georgian Bay over the weekend.

West Parry Sound OPP said the crash happened on Saturday afternoon, about 50 feet from Scoviel Island.

The pilot in training was practising crosswind landings when a gust of wind caught the plane and sent it crashing into the water.

Both people in the aircraft managed to escape and swim to safety without any injuries.
