The Director of the Rainbow District School Board said the board was approached by the city and is currently in high level talks to build a new soccer bubble.

But any facility built wouldn't be funded from the same pot that schools draw their money from, Norm Blaseg said.

It's estimated that a soccer bubble could run up between hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars.

"There is an external interest in providing something that might benefit our students and maybe the community at large," Blaseg said, "we're always wanting to listen, so I mean if there's going to be a benefit sure we'll sit down and listen."

But Blaseg and the Rainbow Board have recently come under fire from parents in the city for the board's decision to possibly close or merge twelve schools due to a decrease in funding.

"It is a very difficult prospect going forward in terms to find any dollars for any projects," Blaseg said, "but nothing committed to date."

Blaseg said one of the sites being floated to host the soccer bubble is Lasalle Secondary School.
