4 dead in a fire in New Liskeard, Ont.

Four people have died in a fire at a residence in New Liskeard, Ont., on Thursday.

Police offering a $2,000 reward for information about the fire

Four people died in a fire at a residence in New Liskeard, Ont., on Thursday.

The Temiskaming Shores Fire Department responded to the fire on Paget Street South at around 5:30 p.m.

In a press release, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said the Temiskaming OPP Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services , the Office of the Fire Marshal and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario are investigating the fire.

"While the investigation is still in the preliminary stages, police believe there is no risk to the public at this time," the news release said.

"Members of the community can expect to see an increased presence of OPP personnel and vehicles in the area as the investigation continues."

The OPP says people who can offer information about the fire are eligible for a $2,000 reward.
