Lasalle offers the French immersion program to students from kindergarten to Grade 6, and says itslibrary is a popular gathering space in the new school which opened last fall.

"Our students love to read at school and at home. Inspiring a love of reading in our students enables them to develop strong literacy skills, the foundation for all learning," said Lasalle's principal, Kristen Pichette, in a news release.

"Reading opens the door to a world of adventure, discovery and knowledge. Diversity in books builds cultural understanding and fosters empathy. Reading is engaging, educational and entertaining."

Pichette says Lasalle Elementary School invites the entire community to make a donation in-store or online to the Love of Reading Foundation.
