Second body found in rooming house rubble

A Wednesday fire on Elizabeth Street in downtown Sudburyhas claimed a second victim, Sudbury police confirm.

Forensic anthropologist and Laurentian University professor Scott Fairgrieve has been called in to help with the investigation and extraction of thebody.

Police said they have accounted for 15 of the 17 peoplethought to be in thehouse and the two missing could be thevictims. However, police said there could have also been people visiting.

The blaze broke out atthe 20-unit rooming house on Wednesday and officials confirmed the first victim on Thursday.

No detailshave been released about eitherperson.

A spokesperson with the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office said they arestill trying to determine the exact cause of the blaze, butsaid it appears to be linked to an explosion. James Allen said they are investigating a nearby gas line.

The Red Cross has temporarily placed 14 of the former rooming house tenants in a hotel.

Police said more updates will be forthcoming.
