Sexual awareness campaign aimed at Sudbury students

A new sexual awareness campaign for Sudbury students at colleges and universities was launched this week by Health Sciences North.

A new sexual awareness campaign for Sudbury students at colleges and universities was launched this week by Health Sciences North.

The Draw the Line campaign intends to create a dialogue about sexual assault, and what constitutes sexual consent, issues of particular interest in campus life.

Campaign organizer Monique Kvaltin said moving away from home is a big step for first-year students, and the Draw the Line program will help them balance fun with responsibility.

"Be like that little voice saying, okay, well maybe this isn't such a good thing, or maybe I should draw the line for my girlfriend who is unable to make appropriate consents," Kvaltin said.

She said her team has already been able to speak to 500 first-year students at Laurentian University, and they will be blitzing university and college campus pubs at the end of the month in an effort to talk to more.
