Sheri-Lynn McEwan remembered for 'kindness'

A funeral service was held on Thanksgiving weekend for Sheri-Lynn McEwan, the 40-year old nurse murdered in her home in Estaire last week.

A funeral service was held on Thanksgiving weekend for Sheri-Lynn McEwan, the 40-year old nurse murdered in her home in Estaire last week.

As police continue to search for her killer, friends and family reflected on her life.

Dr. Jeffrey Sloan worked with McEwan for years in the operating room at Sudbury Regional Hospital. He said remembers her for her kindness and said her co-workers are coping as well as they can.

"We've had grief councillors in. Everyone's been handling it as a family, he said.

Despite everything that's going on, we've been able to do our work every day. [Thats] something Sheri-Lynn would have been proud of."

Sloan said McEwan was a joy to be around.

"She always put patients first, made sure they were comfortable.

The body of Sheri-Lynn McEwan arrived in a gold coloured hearse, and was immediately surrounded by mourners.

Crime Stoppers offersreward for information

OPP have launched a murder investigation, but they haven't provided many details so far. Officials would not confirm if they had any leads and would not comment on the nature of McEwan's death.

Meanwhile, Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward for any information on the case.

ConstableLucieSirois, whois withSudburyCrime Stoppers, saidany type of information might help police with the case.

"What I'd love to emphasize is that ... somebody out there knows about this case," she said.

"There is someone who knows what happened. And they have that little bit of information that may help us solve the case because this crime deserves to be solved."

Sirois noted that,like all Crime Stoppers rewards, this one is only available until next Thursday at midnight. She addeda different reward may be put in place after that.
