Greater Sudbury Public Library hopes you'll take the kids snowshoeing
Six branches carry snowshoes you can borrow with your card
If you happen to be browsing the shelvesat a public library in Greater Sudbury, you might also want to check outsomething that'll get you out of that comfortable reading chair.
Six branches of the library have snowshoes available to lend.
Jessica Watts with the librarysaid she saw the idea years ago at the Petawawalibrary, "but it came to us recently through the Healthy Kids Campaign that's happening in Sudbury."
Along with pairs of snowshoes for adults and kids to borrow,the library gives out a handout for novices, "andit includessome resources, some tips, some tricks of how to get up hills and whatnot," she said.
"We also on our websitehave a page now dedicated to snowshoe lending, and it has a number of links that help people learn to snowshoe, and give some tips ... [for] snowshoeing with children, 'cause we certainly would hope that we canget some families out."
Six libraries in Greater Sudbury areparticipating:

- Levack
- Onaping
- Lively
- Main Branch (downtown)
- South End
- Valley East
Snowshoes can be taken out for a week at a time with a valid library card, and they can be placed on hold in advance of pick-up.
