Spill in Killarney Channel caused by a truck, not a barge

The Coast Guard says it is monitoring the area where a gravel truck rolled off a barge into the Killarney Channel.

Yesterday, a manager with the Sudbury and District Health Unit said the barge had capsized spilling diesel.

But the Coast Guard now says it was just the truck.

The owners of the truck have hired contractors to do a clean-up.

They set up a boom should any pollution escape from the truck.

A water advisory is in place as a precaution.
