The items from the set of the latest film to wrap up production in Sudbury were sold at bargain prices on Wednesday.

The set decorator for the movie 30th Birthday said anything left over will be donated to local shops.

A set sale is often held at the end of filming to unload stuff and try to make a little money back, Karen Churman added.

She noted there will be more opportunities for people to pick up some movie magic, as the industry is doing so well.

It's booming, Churman said. I'm from Ottawa originally. My husband and I moved to Sudbury about five years ago because we were getting job offers here in Sudbury and not in Ottawa.

The set sale yesterday was announced on the Northern Ontario Film Studio Facebook site.

Casey VanGoozen, who also worked on the film as a set decorator said numerous house furnishings were up for sale.

We ... rented a house that had no furnishings in it so we had to make it look like someone was living in it for 10 years.

Many of the items were brand new, were sold at half the purchase price.
