Mike Allard, the program director at the station, hired Griffin 14 years ago to work on the weekday morning program.

He said on Monday morning, he helped fill in for his friend, alongside co-host Gary Beech.

"I co-hosted the show with Gary today because they have been partners, professional partners, for the last 14 years," he said.

"The studio has a place where both hosts sit and look at each other. In honour of Rich, we never touched his chair. We stood up and did the entire show together."
