Greater Sudbury police have charged one of the force's own employees with possession of child pornography.

Police saidthe employee is a civilian who works part-time in the administrative services branch.

The worker, who is not named in the police media release, has been suspended without pay.

"It is disappointing when a member of our service has been charged as a result of a criminal investigation," said Sudbury Police Chief Paul Pedersen in a release."But I am completely confident in the judicial systems and processes that are in place that hold ourpeople accountable."

The police release also said that the force has internal systems to make sure police computers aren't used to view inappropriate material, but an audit is being conducted to make sure the filters are working properly.
