The search continues for two orphaned bear cubs in Sudbury, after their mother and one of their siblings were shot dead by police Monday.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry confirmed the search. The mother and sibling bears were shot after they broke into a home on Muriel Crescent. The bears were reportedly damaging property, police said Monday.

Nearby residents reported seeing the mother bear and three bear cubs roaming around the Sudbury area over the past few weeks.

Trevor Griffin, the ministry's Sudbury district manager, said cub traps have been set in the region byresource technicianswith hopes of catching the young bears.

If the baby bears are caught, the Wild at Heart Wildlife Refuge Centre said it will create a home for the cubs.
