Senior pedestrian in critical condition after hit by truck

Greater Sudbury police say an 81-year-old man was left with serious injuries after he was struck by a construction truck Wednesday morning.

Greater Sudbury police say an 81-year-old man was left with serious injuries after he was struck by a construction truck Wednesday morning.

In a news release, police say the man was walking alone across Regent Street towardWalford Road. At the same time, police say a construction truck driven by a 22-year-old man was turning onto Regent Street from Walford Road and collided with the pedestrian.

The senior was transported to Health Sciences North in critical condition, according to police. The identities of those involved have not been released.

The intersection of Regent Street and Walford Road was closed earlier due to a police investigation, but has since reopened.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact authorities at705-675-9171.
