The redesign of the Tom Davies Square courtyard has been narrowed down to three schematic designs. Mark Elliot is a landscape architect helping with the new design. He joined us in studio to talk about the three design options.

The city of Greater Sudbury has narrowed down the redesign of the Tom Davies Square courtyard to three concepts.

Sudbury residents can see what's become of their suggestions and offer further input tomorrow night.

Mark Elliot, a landscape architect helping with the new design of the Tom Davies Square courtyard, said the redesign will reflect Sudbury's natural scenery.

"We've been really blessed to have a city which is completely integrated into these landscapes," he told CBC News.

"And yet, you look at Tom Davies Square and it's done in a sort of generic 1970s-style architecture, which was great in the day, but to me doesn't really reflect how we've grown with lakes and rivers and rock."

Elliot said he feels honoured to be part of the project.

"This kind of project in Sudbury doesn't come along every day. To have a chance to change the face of not only what the city looks like, but how we function and how we are perceived to the rest of the world."

Residents can give their opinion on the three potential designs this Thursday in the Tom Davies Square foyer from 4 to 6 p.m.
