Sudbury's annual Up Here festival is gearing up for its second year and it's already garnering attention from world famous artists.

Internationally renowned French muralists Ella and Pitr will be stopping by the Nickel City for the event. The co-founder of Up Here says having Ella and Pitr's work in Sudbury is a big deal.

"This is huge. And they applied to come to the festival, which is even more remarkable," Christian Pelletier said.

"They heard about the event last year and they said, 'Hey we wanna come.' They're rockstars on the international public art stage."

Ella and Pitr are known for painting large-scale murals in public places around the world.

During the Up Here festival, they'll be painting a mural on the rooftop of one of the city's most iconic landmarks Science North.

Pelletier says they chose to paint on top of Science North because it's in a photogenic area.

"With Bell Park in the back and Ramsay Lake, I think it really spoke to the artists. We gave the artists a bunch of different options, and they came back to us and they fell in love with Lake Ramsay."

Ella and Pitr's works can be seen in countries such as France, Portugal, Italy and Japan.
