The CEO of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre has gained a second title and additional compensation.

Andre Robichaud is now also the acting CEO of its research partner, the Thunder Bay Regional Research Institute.

The institute's former acting CEO, Dr. Roxanne Deslauriers, becomes its scientific director.

Hospital board chair Susan Fraser said the move is to better align the research institute's operations with the hospital.

Robichaud will receive a stipend of $60,000 for her additional duties.

Last year she earned a salary of $385,000 in her job as head of the hospital. This year, the board renewed her contract for a five-year term.

This is an exciting realignment that will focus resources and efforts to achieve the best results for these two important institutions, said hospital board chair Susan Fraser.

The research institutes senior management team will also include Anne Marie Heron, who is the hospitals current executive director of capital planning and operations. She will take on the role of acting VP of research at the hospital and acting chief administrative officer for the institute.

Peter Myllymaa will remain as executive vice-president, corporate services and operations for the hospital and chief operating officer for the institute.
