Azraya Kokopenace death: OPP continue to investigate

Provincial police in Kenora, Ont. say they are continuing to investigate the death of 14-year-old Azraya Kokopenace.

Ontario Provincial Police confirmed late Sunday that Azraya Kokopenace, 14, was found dead in Kenora, Ont. and foul play is not suspected. (Ontario Provincial Police)

Provincial police in Kenora, Ont.say they are continuingto investigate the death of14-year-old Azraya Kokopenace.

The girl's bodywas found Sundayafternoon by volunteer searchers with a group called the Bear Clan.

Police say the volunteers found her remains close to where Kokopenacewas last seen heading into a wooded area near the Lake of the Woods hospital.

OPP Constable Ronni Grosenicktold CBC News that,despite her body being foundclose by, it was still a difficultsearch.

"These searches are very complex in nature and cover large amounts of area, and the searchers were assisting the police in the search as well."

Out of respect for Kokopenace and her family, police won't release the exact details of her death, but foul play is not suspected at this time, said Grosenick.
