A regional airline in northwestern Ontario says it will soon have a number of new connections between Thunder Bay, Ont. and a variety of remote First Nation communities.

Bearskin Airlines announced it has partnered with Winnipeg-based Perimeter Aviation to re-establish service to several First Nations north of Sioux Lookout, the company said in a press release issued Monday.

The service will include connections to Deer Lake, Sachigo Lake, Weagamow, North Spirit Lake, Sandy Lake, and Pikangikum.

"We take pride in the fact that our company was born in the north and continues to serve the north, providing air service to many smaller communities that are important to our business customers who choose to live and work in northern Ontario," Ron Hell, the director of marketing and sales for Bearskin, was quoted as saying in the press release.

Perimeter Aviation has already been flying to Sandy Lake, Pikangikum and Sachigo Lake out of Winnipeg for more than 10 years, and recently expanded service to include flights to and from Sioux Lookout.

Flights to Bearskin Lake First Nation are also slated to be added to the schedule starting November 7, the airlines announced.
