Some Thunder Bay residents claim to have seena bright blue light in the sky early Wednesday morning.

The owner/operator of the Thunder Bay Observatory, Randy McAllister, said it appears that a meteorite shot across the sky just north of Thunder Bay at about 4:30 a.m. McAllister said he's received a lot of reports fromhis clients.

"They were reporting a large fireball (that appeared), for a long period of time in the sky and then breaking up into multiple pieces and entering the atmosphere," he said. "I had reports of bright blue and bright green colours."

McAllister said if it's not a meteorite, the other possibility is that an asteroid passing byEarth Tuesday night could have dislodged something in its path.
