About 100 people gathered last night on the shores of Lake Superior for a vigil to support the family of Delaine Copenace.

'It really hurts...I can't imagine what her mother is going through'

About 100 people gathered last night on the shores of Lake Superior for a vigil to support the family of Delaine Copenace.

The 16-year-old from Kenora has been missing for more than a week.

David B. Fiddler whose only daughter is also named Delaine held a candle and a photo of Copenace at the vigil.

"As a father you relate to it, you can't imagine how it feels for anybody to be missing their daughter."

Natasha Wesley said the ceremony on the lakeshore was touching.

"As a mother, it really hurts. I can't imagine what her mother is going through. You hear the emotions here tonight. It's really ... I'm sad," she said.

Copenance was last seen on Feb. 27 in downtown Kenora.

Community-based searches continue for her today in Kenora and Winnipeg.
