Thunder Bay Police Service blamed for 'mistreatment' and 'systemic racism'

First Nations in northwestern Ontario have announced their intention to file a human rights complaint against the Thunder Bay Police Service.

Eabametoong, Nibinamik and Namaygoosisagagun First Nations supported by Nishnawbe Aski Nation and other First Nation organizations say they are frustrated with what they call the mistreatment and systemic racism in policing services.

They willhold a news conference tomorrow to detail their concerns. The chiefs of the three communities will be joined at the event by NAN Grand Chief Harvey Yesno and Deputy Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler.

The First Nations are represented by Toronto lawyer Julian Falconer, who will also attend the news conference.
